Did you ever stop and think about who builds the roads, bridges, shopping malls and schools? Not to mention major skyscrapers, stadiums, airports, and power plants? Look around. Employers are looking for skilled workers and are hiring now. Construction offers a world of opportunity for real people just like you. There are lots of different careers to choose from in the industry. Construction Trade Core Concepts follows the NCCER Core Curriculum and covers topics such as Basic Safety, Communication Skills and Introduction to Construction Drawings. Completing this curriculum gives you the basic skills needed and required for many industry jobs available today.

In Construction Trade Core Concepts we will explore the full breadth of the construction trade industry, preparing students to enter the construction trade workforce with a broad understanding of what makes a building from a construction trade labor perspective. The course will focus on construction safety, construction material handling, construction math, construction hand tool usage, construction power tool usage, and introduction to reading construction drawings, essential job readiness skills, communication skills and an optional independent study of basic rigging skills. NOTE: Students must be 18 years of age to register.
