The 2nd Annual Youth Employment Summit (Y.E.S.) is taking place April 10th, 2018!  This event focuses on preparing youth and youth adults (age 16+) for today’s jobs in Southwest Washington.  As an employer or apprenticeship training program, or community college partner offering certificates and two year degrees,  in a high-demand industry, we ask that you participate in this event to help shape your future workforce.

This event is designed to help individuals that need more career information to get that information.  It is also designed to help youth 16 – 24 who may be employed but not on a career track to find the information they need to get into a career.  Many of these youths are looking to start working in a career track now and would like to meet you.  Some of them will be looking for academic tracks that can lead them to a living wage by accomplishing a certificate or two-year degree. Approximately 300 students will be attending, most of which are high school juniors and seniors, with a sprinkling of out-of-school young adults ages 16-24.

There are three ways to participate in the Y.E.S. event:

  1. Career Exploration Fair (10-11:30am) – Organizations have the opportunity to encourage participants to pursue an exciting and fulfilling career in their industry through a hands-on display or activity.  We support all career paths and endeavor to help today’s youth fulfill their vision of success.
  2. Recruiting/Apprenticeship Fair (1:10-3:00pm) – Organizations may promote their summer or part-time jobs (emphasis on hiring youth ages 16-24) or earn-and-learn programs.  Organizations will have the opportunity to review resumes and interview employment-ready participants.
  3. Participate in the full event (8:00am-4:00pm) – Ensure participants learn about the job opportunities in your industry, AND you have the chance to talk with your future workforce.
